]]>The heavy-duty UPS and Battery chases have rounded metal corners and rugged handles front and rear, aiding in safe handling. Internally, all major components are well secured and electrically insulated to prevent damage due to shock and vibration. The internal intelligent thermal sensors provide monitoring of unit temperatures, with both local and remote Battle-short override capability of thermal shutdown for emergency scenarios. Battle-short can be engaged via a remote contact input or via a software command. When in Battle-short, an audible alarm is sounded and an indicator is lit. The high-intensity audible alarm can be heard in high noise environments and includes an audible enable/disable switch.
The internal shielded input transformer provides galvanic isolation with provisions for nominal 100, 115, 120, 208, 220, 230, and 240 VAC input voltages, 50 or 60 Hz. Special EMI/RFI filters, input power factor correction, and inrush current limiting minimize both input current and harmonics.
The built-in Elapsed Time Indicator logs the hours of operation of the UPS as well as that of the equipment powered by the UPS. This can be used to plan preventative maintenance of the entire system. The LED arrays keep the operator informed as to the unit’s status including load and battery levels. The high-intensity audible alarm can be heard in high noise environments. All controls and protective devices are brought to the front and rear panels with critical switches having finger guards. The front panel also provides easy access to both the AC Input and Battery Input fuses. Coupled with the onboard spare fuses, MTTR is reduced to less than 15 minutes.
Further, all front panel devices are recessed to prevent damage or accidental operation. The input circuit breaker and the galvanic isolation transformers all provide a double pole isolated source for all installations including shipboard systems or overseas locations where phase references and grounding are not consistent. The Maintenance Bypass Switch can be used to remove the UPS electronics module from service while still providing power to the connected loads.
The rear panel provides locking connectors for the input and output power. Removable, washable air filters combined with high capacity stainless steel ball-bearing fans provide added protection in both controlled and hostile environments. The exhaust air is diverted out the rear vents, with alternate airflow directions optional.
The ETI0001-2205 has the added benefit of having a field-replaceable battery via a front draw-out battery module. The external battery connector allows the safe and easy addition of the standard or extra battery modules without having to shut the unit down. The batteries are maintenance-free with immobilized electrolytes and are constructed of flame retardant materials. For more information, see the Battery Technology section. The Status connector provides an interface with optional computer software providing loss of AC and low battery status as well as remote shut down capability.

]]>US Navy Standard for Broadband
Rugged Power™ Rugged COTS 3000 VA Isolated UPS
Rack Mount UPS for Shallow Depth Racks with
Integrated 6 Circuit, Intelligent, Solidstate Power Distribution Unit
The field proven Rugged Systems™ UPS line is ideally suited for military, industrial, computer and telecommunications applications requiring high reliability, rugged construction, compact size and light weight design. These units are equally suited for use in shipboard, airborne, vehicular, field deployed or fixed locations with controlled or uncontrolled environments. The "ETI0001-1406" was specifically designed for US Navy rack systems requiring higher power requirements. In typical installations, the 4Uelectronics module and 2U battery module are only 18.5" deep to accommodate shallow depth racks as found in submarines. A heavy duty cable is provided to connect the two modules. The "ETI0001-1406" does not require a separate PDU since the PDU functions are already integrated into the UPS module. This saves rack space, cabling and expense while improving overall reliability.
Both chassis have rounded metal corners and rugged handles, both front and rear, aiding in safe handling. Internally, all major components are well secured and electrically insulated to prevent damage due to shock and vibration in any axis. These units can be mounted horizontally or vertically.
The internal shielded input transformer provides galvanic isolation with provisions for domestic (115 VAC, CONUS) and optional auto-ranging international input voltages (85-270 VAC,OCONUS). The unit also operates as a frequency converter, taking 46-70 hertz input and converting it to 60 hertz power. The input circuit breaker and the galvanic isolation transformer all provide a double pole isolated source for all installations including shipboard systems or overseas locations where phase references and grounding are not consistent.
The LED arrays keep the operator informed as to the unit's status including load and battery levels. The high intensity audible alarm can be heard in high noise environments. All controls and protective devices are brought to front and rear panels with critical switches having finger guards. Further, all front panel devices are recessed to prevent damage or accidental operation. The internal intelligent PDU allows control of the individual output circuits incorporating thermal and interlock interfaces for additional control and safety, plus Battle-short override. The display and control panel can be mounted remotely in the rack at eye level, or on the keyboard console, or on the unit front panel with only a logic level cable connection.
The rear panel provides locking connectors for the input and output power with various optional configurations available. The output connectors are standard IEC320R with unique cable restraints. This reverse air flow version draws air through the front and exhausts out the rear vents into the rack. A removable and washable intake air filter and high capacity stainless steel ball-bearing fans provide added protection in both controlled and hostile environments. The external battery connector allows the safe and easy addition of the standard or extra battery modules without having to shut the unit down. The batteries are maintenance free with immobilized electrolyte and are constructed of flame retardant materials
For more information, see the Battery Technology section. The Status connector provides an interface with optional computer software providing loss of AC and low battery status as well as remote shut down capability.
