The field proven Military Power® UPS line is ideally suited for military, industrial and telecommunications applications requiring a rugged rack, vehicular or field deployable, high reliability, compact size and lightweight design. The ETI0001-1255 is being used by the US Navy because of their stringent performance and reliability requirements. The heavy-duty chassis, occupying only 7” (4U) of rack space and 18.5” depth, has rounded metal corners and rugged handles front and rear, aiding in safe handling. The front panel is waterproof meeting the Mil Standards for water dripping onto the front panels. Internally, all major components are well secured and electrically insulated to prevent damage due to shock and vibration. The internal shielded input isolation transformer, EMI/RFI filters and input power factor correction minimize both input current and harmonics. The unit also operates as a frequency converter, taking 46-440 hertz input and converting it to clean, uninterruptible 60 hertz power. The LED arrays keep the operator informed as to the unit’s status including load and battery levels. All controls and protective devices are brought to the front panel with critical switches having finger guards. Further, all front panel devices are recessed to prevent damage or accidental operation. The input switch and the isolation transformer provide double pole isolation for shipboard systems.
The rear panel provides locking connectors for the input and output power. Multiple input and output power panel options are available. Removable and washable air filters and a high capacity stainless steel ball bearing fans provide added protection in both controlled and hostile environments. The exhaust air is diverted out the front vent, with alternate air flow directions optional. The ETI0001-1255 has the added benefit of having afield replaceable battery via a rear draw-out battery module. The batteries are maintenance free with immobilized electrolyte and are constructed of flame retardant materials.
For more information, see the Battery Technology section. The Status connector provides an interface with optional computer software providing loss of AC and low battery status as well as remote shut down capability.
The ETI0001-1255 has a unique feature: a of a drip proof front panel for the Trident submarine. This application required that water could not enter the unit if the panel was at a 15 degree tilt (facing upward). To ensure this, we used rubber switch covers on the toggle switches, a thin clear sheet of material was adhered to the back of the front panel between the LED display card, and the cooling was switched to rear air intake and exhaust out forward upper side vents instead of the front panel.
