This field-proven Series of Tactical Inverter® is supplied as a System incorporating numerous safety and operational advantages over other Inverter products sold into this market. The Inverter and associated connectors, circuit breakers, and cables are housed in a rugged, water-resistant, tactical case. When the case is closed, all of the equipment is protected from the elements. Optional permanent mounting brackets are available for fixed installations.

Setup of the Tactical Inverter System is a ‘no tools’ operation. The unit has been designed for rapid setup and tear down using quick-connect cable terminations. For example to connect to DC power on an HMMWV, Stryker, Abrams or another military vehicle with a NATO Slave connector, simply open the cover of the system case, plug the NATO Slave plug end of the cable into the vehicle’s NATO connector and then plug the other end into the corresponding DC Input connector on the Tactical Inverter System. This can be done with an existing NATO Slave cable that some of these vehicles carry, or it can be done with a cable supplied from ETI. In either case, DC set up or tear down is a 2-minute or less operation.

The Inverter draws power from a 12, 24, or 48 VDC source (depending on Tactical Inverter model – see Technical Specifications section) and delivers a Computer-Grade true sine wave AC output voltage that is equal to or better than the voltage supplied by your local utility.  When the DC voltage is within the operating range of the unit, the Inverter will continue to deliver AC power to the loads connected.  If the DC voltage falls out of the specified range of operation, a Low or High DC Shutdown will occur respectively. This feature also protects any battery source from being discharged too low.

In addition to producing AC power, this series of Tactical Inverters also is available with a built-in 3-Stage Battery Charger that can operate simultaneously with Inverter operation. This Battery Charger can operate from 100/110/115/120 or 200/220/230/240 VAC source (depending on Tactical Inverter model – see Technical Specifications section) and charges 12, 24, or 48 VDC batteries (depending on Tactical Inverter model – see Technical Specifications section) per battery manufacture recommended charge levels and rates

The field-proven PowerStation UPS line is ideally suited for military, industrial and telecommunications applications requiring rugged rack or table mount and/or portable construction, high reliability, compact size and lightweight design. The heavy-duty chassis occupies minimal space while delivering up to 3000 VA of clean, uninterruptible power. Internally, all major components are well secured and electrically insulated to prevent damage due to shock and vibration. An internal transformer bay accommodates the input isolation transformer with provisions for both domestic and optional international voltages for ratings up to 3000 VA. The LED arrays keep the operator informed as to the unit’s status including load and battery levels. The high-intensity audible alarm can be heard in high noise environments, yet is easily adjustable to suit quieter conditions. Various optional power distribution controls are available which mount internally or remotely.

Locking connectors for the input and output power are available as options. Multiple input and output power panel options are also available. A washable intake air filter and high capacity ball bearing fan provide added protection in both controlled and hostile environments. The exhaust air is diverted outside vents. An external battery connector allows the safe and easy addition of extra battery modules without having to shut the unit down. The field proven Military Power® UPS line is ideally suited for military, industrial, computer and telecommunications applications requiring high reliability, rugged construction, compact size and light weight design. These units are equally suited for use in shipboard, airborne, vehicular, field deployed or fixed locations with controlled or uncontrolled environments. The ETI0001-2214 was specifically designed for US Navy AN/BLQ10 (V) Submarine Electronic Warfare Systems requiring higher power requirements.

The 3U electronics module can be mounted in the upper section of the rack near eye level or lower in the rack near the battery module. The heavier 2U battery module is usually mounted in the bottom of the rack for lowering the center of gravity of the rack. A  heavy duty shielded cable is provided to connect the two modules. Both chassis have rounded metal corners and rugged handles, both front and rear, aiding in safe handling. Internally, all major components are well secured and electrically insulated to prevent damage due to shock and vibration in any axis. These units can be mounted horizontally or vertically.

The internal shielded input transformer provides galvanic isolation with provisions for domestic (115 VAC, CONUS) and optionally for international (230 VAC, OCONUS) input voltages. The unit also operates as a frequency converter, taking 46-70 hertz input and converting it to 60 hertz power. Special EMI/RFI filters and input power factor correction minimize both input current and harmonics. The input circuit breaker and the galvanic isolation transformer all provide a double pole isolated source for all installations including shipboard systems or overseas locations where phase references and grounding are not consistent.

The LED arrays keep the operator informed as to the unit’s status including load and battery levels. The high intensity audible alarm can be heard in high noise environments. All controls and protective devices are brought to front and rear panels with critical switches having finger guards. Further, all front panel devices are recessed to prevent damage or accidental operation. The display and control panel can be mounted remotely in the rack at eye level, or on the keyboard console,or on the unit front panel with only a logic level cable connection.

The rear panel provides locking connectors for the input and output power with various optional configurations available. The output connectors are MS threaded metal shell connectors. This unit draws air through the front and exhausts out the rear vents into the rack. This allows the unit to be used in either negative or neutral pressure racks.  A removable and washable intake air filter and high capacity stainless steel ball bearing fans provide added protection in both controlled and hostile environments. The external battery connector allows the safe and easy addition of the standard or extra battery modules without having to shut the unit down. The batteries are maintenance free with immobilized electrolyte and are constructed of flame retardant materials.  For more information, see the Battery Technology section. The Status connector provides an interface with optional computer software providing loss of AC and low battery status as well as remote shut down capability.

The field proven Rugged Power™ UPS line is ideally suited for military, industrial, computer and telecommunications applications requiring high reliability, rugged construction, compact size and light weight design. These units are equally suited for use in shipboard, airborne, vehicular, field deployed or fixed locations with controlled or uncontrolled environments. The “ETI0001-1214” was initially designed for Applied Data overseas applications, becoming the standard for several programs.

Each heavy-duty chassis occupies a minimum of rack space while delivering up to3000 VA of clean, uninterruptible power continuously. The rounded metal corners and rugged handles, aid in safe handling. Internally, all major components are well secured and electrically insulated to prevent damage due to shock and vibration. The optional mounting kit includes flanges and legs for either horizontal or vertical positioning.

The internal shielded input transformer provides galvanic isolation with provisions for international (220 VAC, OCONUS) input voltage. The 2-poleinput circuit breaker and the galvanic isolation transformer all provide a double pole isolated source for all installations including shipboard systems or overseas locations where phase references and grounding are not consistent.

The LED arrays keep the operator informed as to the unit’s status including load and battery levels. The high intensity audible alarm can be heard in high noise environments, yet is easily adjustable to suit quieter conditions. The rear panel provides locking connectors for the input and output power. Multiple input and output power panel options are available. A removable and washable intake air filter and high capacity stainless steel ball bearing fan provide added protection in both controlled and hostile environments. The air is drawn from the rear and exhaust air is diverted out the front vent, with alternate air flow directions optional. The external battery connector allows the safe and easy addition of extra battery modules without having to shut the unit down. The batteries are maintenance free with immobilized electrolyte and are constructed of flame retardant materials. For more information, see the Battery Technology section. The unit also operates as a frequency converter, taking 46-70 hertz input and converting it to 50 hertz power.
